The San Francisco Botanical Gardens wowed attendees at the Bay Area’s largest annual plant sale by featuring over 2,500 different plants including drought-tolerant options. During this annual two-day event, gardeners of all ages were invited to a preview reception which included plants available for sale, a silent auction, a used book sale as well as lectures about gardening and houseplant care. Master Gardeners of San Mateo and San Francisco counties were also available to help answer gardening questions, and families were able to participate in fun activities like hands-on succulent planting and leaf art.
Brown Pelican WiFi brought in a custom temporary wifi solution using both the on-site wifi network at the gardens but also incorporated a cradlepoint router with an outdoor antenna, connected to a broadband cellular network. This provided wireless access for check-in/registration on the day of the event, and wifi connectivity to the production staff on iPads who were assisting patrons with live, online bidding. At the end of the event, additional laptops were connected to finalize payment for the winning bidders as they collected their items.
